What an SEO audit helps you decide
An SEO audit examines the technical settings, page content and links that affect how a website can be discovered and understood in search. It helps your team distinguish confirmed problems, useful opportunities and questions that need more evidence.
You may need one when important pages have indexing concerns, relevant search traffic has weakened, visitors struggle to understand your services, or several tools and providers recommend different fixes. An audit can also establish a baseline before an SEO engagement or help assess risks around a redesign.
The deliverable is a diagnosis and order of work. Producing a report does not itself change your website, secure indexing or generate enquiries. Development, content production and ongoing SEO require separate implementation.
Who this service is for
- Service businesses and SMEs: Review the pages that explain your offer and support quotations, consultations or appointments. Suitable for owners who want clear priorities before investing in more SEO.
- In-house teams and agencies: Obtain a defined second opinion, a usable backlog and recommendations your existing team can implement.
- Local businesses with established websites: Separate website issues from Business Profile or listing concerns. Local-profile assessment is an optional module.
- E-commerce businesses: Examine selected category, product and filter templates. Catalogue size and technical complexity determine the appropriate scope.
- Publishers and content-heavy websites: Review sampled content clusters, archives and internal links where overlap or weak organisation needs investigation.
- Businesses facing a decline or migration: Use historical data and change records to investigate potential causes or assess a proposed move. These projects often need a specialist scope.
A manufacturer’s product-enquiry pages, a coaching institute’s admission pages and an online retailer’s category pages have different jobs. We agree which pages matter to your business before selecting the manual-review sample.
When a focused audit is a poor fit
A small entry audit is not a complete migration programme, a security investigation or a review of every page in a large catalogue. Multilingual sites, several domains, complex JavaScript applications and extensive log analysis require additional scoping. If you already know the problem and only need it fixed, implementation may be the better starting point. A new site without meaningful history may benefit from a launch-readiness review rather than traffic-loss analysis.
What we examine
Crawlability, indexability and URL signals
We review observable response codes, robots directives, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, redirect chains and URL consistency. We check whether important pages have usable routes from navigation and internal links.
A URL in a sitemap is not proof that Google or Bing has indexed it. Where authorised Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools evidence is available, we review reported states and relevant samples. Without that access, the report distinguishes public technical observations from unverified indexing questions.
Architecture and internal linking
We assess how pages connect, whether useful service or category pages are difficult to reach, and where contextual links would help readers continue their journey. Orphan-page checks compare the crawl with available inventories and account exports; they do not claim to discover every disconnected URL.
Titles, headings, content and search intent
We manually review the agreed priority pages for purpose, relevance, useful information, duplication and overlap. A course page should explain eligibility and admission steps; a product category should help shoppers understand the range. Recommendations address those needs rather than simply adding a keyword repeatedly.
Overlapping content is a reason to investigate, not an automatic instruction to merge pages. Where data exists, query and landing-page patterns help inform whether pages should be differentiated, improved or consolidated. New writing is separately scoped through our content writing services.
Mobile experience and performance
We check representative pages and contact journeys, and review available performance evidence. Lab tests help reproduce problems under specified conditions; field data reflects measured user experience where a sufficient dataset exists. If field data is unavailable, we record that limitation instead of treating it as a failed result.
Recommendations may identify a template, asset or interaction needing developer investigation. Performance engineering and code changes are not included in the audit fee.
Structured data
We inspect sampled markup for syntax, consistency with visible content and suitability for applicable search features. We check entity relationships where observable. Valid structured data does not guarantee rich results, and adding more schema is not a substitute for useful content.
Search performance and enquiry evidence
With authorised access or suitable exports, we review relevant Search Console queries and page trends, available analytics data and important change dates. We distinguish impressions, search clicks, tracked contact actions and customer-confirmed enquiries.
A traffic decline can have several explanations. Timing alone does not prove an algorithm penalty or a single technical cause. Unknowns and competing explanations remain visible in the findings.
Backlink assessment
We review available link exports and selected sources for relevant patterns, anchors and concerns. Backlink datasets are incomplete, and sample limits apply. A tool’s toxicity score alone is not a reason to remove or disavow links. Link acquisition, outreach and disavow submission are excluded.
Local, e-commerce, publisher and migration modules
Website SEO auditing differs from Google Business Profile and local-listing assessment. A separately scoped local module can check one eligible profile and sampled citations; our Google Business Profile management guide explains that area of work.
Store, publisher and migration reviews are available within appropriate packages. Their templates, datasets and sampling limits are agreed in advance. A migration audit does not silently include the full redirect build, launch monitoring or recovery execution.
Public-data review or account-supported analysis?
Public-data review can establish observable page content, links, status codes and accessible technical settings. It cannot establish private search history, confirmed lead quality or every search engine’s selected canonical.
Account-supported analysis adds evidence from an authorised Search Console property, an analytics property and Bing Webmaster Tools where available. More data can support a better investigation, but it does not eliminate uncertainty or guarantee a diagnosis of every historical change.
You do not need to send passwords. Use appropriate delegated permissions or agreed exports. If an investigation needs capabilities beyond basic report access, we explain why and agree a suitable access route. We confirm a reduced-data scope before payment when key datasets are unavailable.
How we decide what deserves attention first
We review findings against five questions:
- Business importance: Does this affect pages or journeys that support a useful customer decision?
- Severity: Is there a meaningful obstacle, a limited weakness or a minor warning?
- Confidence: What evidence confirms it, and what still needs checking?
- Dependencies: Does another change or data source need to come first?
- Effort: Can the team make a focused edit, or does the task need wider development?
For a training website, confirming that an admission page is accessible and explains the course may deserve attention before rewriting dozens of archive descriptions. For a store, filter-indexing rules should reflect the intended shopping and search experience; blanket blocking is not a default recommendation.
Automated checks help locate patterns. Manual review validates important findings and turns them into work your team can assess. Recurring template problems are grouped so the report does not inflate one issue into hundreds of unrelated tasks.
What you receive
- Executive summary: The main constraints, opportunities and decisions needed.
- Findings register: Evidence, affected URLs or templates, issue classification, severity, confidence, suggested action, owner, effort and validation method.
- Priority-page notes: Specific examples from the manual sample, with competitor and content comparisons within package limits.
- Implementation roadmap: Urgent blockers, subsequent improvements, dependencies, deferred work and unavailable-data checks.
- Supporting evidence: Relevant crawl exports, screenshots and examples with sensitive information removed.
- Review call: A walkthrough of the recommendations, followed by the defined clarification period.
Your team can use the deliverables internally or request a separate implementation proposal. There is no obligation to buy ongoing SEO after the audit.

Choosing a scope
Essentials suits a manageable site with a small set of commercial pages. Growth provides a larger manual sample and content or template review. Advanced suits more complex investigation, with the final scope agreed before payment.
Page count alone does not determine the price. A small JavaScript application or a site with several languages can require more investigation than a larger, straightforward website. Parameter URLs count towards the agreed crawl allowance; when a cap is reached, we prioritise the agreed sample and disclose uncrawled coverage.
We review the latest 90 days against a comparable earlier period where data exists. Growth and Advanced may examine up to 16 months of accessible Search Console trends. This depends on actual history and data availability, not an assumed complete record.
Advanced specialist module
Choose one module within the agreed page and template allowances:
- E-commerce: Filter and variant rules across up to five page types.
- Publisher: Taxonomy and content overlap across up to five clusters.
- Migration preflight: A supplied URL map, up to 100 source-to-target checks and up to 15 staging-page samples. Staging samples count within the 50 manually reviewed pages.
Where relevant, Advanced can include an authorised, redacted server-log sample of up to 100,000 lines across seven days. Access and suitability must be agreed. Larger log datasets, full redirect-map production and migration launch monitoring need a separate quotation.
Optional additions
Addition | Agency fee and boundary |
|---|---|
Local visibility assessment | ₹4,000 per location: one eligible Business Profile, up to ten citation checks and ten recent review samples; no profile edits or reinstatement |
Additional manual pages | ₹5,000 per ten pages on an already included template; new templates or languages separately scoped |
Additional developer handoff | ₹3,000 for one 60-minute explanation session; implementation excluded |
Re-audit | ₹5,000 Essentials; ₹10,000 Growth; Advanced from ₹20,000 |
A re-audit requested within 60 days includes one recrawl within the original allowance, checks of up to 10, 25 or 50 original findings respectively, and a 30-minute call. A new platform, substantial redesign or newly expanded investigation requires a fresh scope. Clarification support explains the original findings; it does not include re-testing new releases.
Costs, exclusions and payment
Routine agency-owned audit tools are included. Applicable taxes, client-specific premium datasets or subscriptions and third-party charges are separate and agreed before purchase. Ranknix states applicable taxes in the quotation and invoice.
Audit fees exclude website development, content rewriting, speed engineering, link acquisition, profile management, security testing, hosting, migrations and ongoing optimisation. For page-level changes, explore our one-time on-page SEO optimisation service. Continued implementation and monitoring can be scoped through our ongoing SEO services.
Essentials is payable in advance. Growth and Advanced require 50% to book and 50% on delivery. Quotations are valid for 15 calendar days. The delivery clock starts after the agreed inputs are complete; access delays or expanded scope may require a revised schedule. Cancellation and refund arrangements are stated in the agreement before payment. No monthly retainer or automatic renewal is required.
From consultation to delivery
- Agree the problem and scope. Share your website, business priorities, target customers, concerns and important change dates. We confirm suitable coverage, inputs and a written quotation.
- Collect and review evidence. Crawl agreed URLs, inspect the manual sample and review authorised data. Record missing sources and technical restrictions.
- Validate and prioritise findings. Check important observations, group patterns and identify dependencies. Mark opportunities and hypotheses separately from confirmed issues.
- Deliver and explain the roadmap. Share the report and walkthrough. Agree which recommendations your team will assess next and use the clarification allowance for questions.
You nominate one business contact and, where possible, a developer contact. Supply accurate service information, available inventories and access permissions. Audit access permits inspection; it does not authorise changes to production.
What success means
For the audit: agreed coverage is completed or exceptions are recorded; priority findings have evidence; recommendations identify an owner and a verification step; the report and review call are delivered.
After implementation: recheck changes, record release dates and monitor relevant search and business signals. These may include reported indexing states, relevant impressions and clicks, visitor actions and client-confirmed qualified enquiries. Contact clicks are not automatically leads, and a form submission is not automatically a sale.
A dated baseline helps assessment, but seasonality, competition and other changes can affect results. An audit alone cannot produce search growth, and a before-and-after comparison cannot establish complete attribution.
Frequently asked questions
Ranknix’s focused Essentials audit is ₹15,000 one-time. Growth is ₹30,000, and Advanced starts at ₹60,000 after scope review. The selected allowance, technical complexity and available data determine suitability. Implementation and applicable taxes are separate.
No. The consultation discusses your concerns, available evidence and suitable scope. The paid audit includes the agreed investigation, report, roadmap and walkthrough. A preliminary conversation should not be confused with that deliverable.
Yes, for a clearly defined public-data review. We can inspect accessible content and technical signals, but cannot confirm private search history or every indexing explanation. We agree those limitations before starting and record unavailable evidence in the report.
No. Crawl tools examine patterns across the agreed URL allowance. Manual review covers the priority-page and template sample specified in the selected package. The report makes that coverage clear.
It can investigate possible causes using available search history, technical evidence and a change log. Some causes remain uncertain. We do not automatically label a decline as a penalty, and complex incidents may need an advanced investigation.
Implementation is separately quoted. Your own team can use the roadmap, or you can ask Ranknix to scope specific tasks. Development and content writing are not included in the audit price.
Profile and local-listing assessment are a separate optional module. Reviewing a website’s local pages does not mean a full profile or citation audit has been completed.
It can assess important foundations such as crawl access, useful text, internal links and truthful structured data. There is no special markup that guarantees selection, and we do not promise AI citations or indexing.
No. The commitment is the agreed investigation and deliverables, with limitations stated. Rankings, indexing, traffic, recovery and business outcomes depend on implementation and factors the audit cannot control.
Essentials is planned for 5–7 working days and Growth for 10–12 after complete inputs. Advanced is normally 15–20 working days, confirmed in the quotation. Access delays and changed scope may affect delivery.
Your website, business type, target market, main concerns and approximate site size. If traffic declined or the website changed, include the relevant dates. Do not send account passwords or sensitive customer records.
