What are Shopping ads?

Shopping ads use product information to present items such as a product image, title, price and retailer name. On Google, Merchant Center product data helps determine which searches and opportunities are relevant, rather than an advertiser selecting keywords in the same way as a text Search campaign.

A complete engagement can involve product-data assessment, Merchant Center configuration, campaign planning, purchase-measurement checks and ongoing decisions. Connecting a feed alone does not complete this work or guarantee that products will be approved or advertised.

Who should consider this service?

  • Established online retailers with working checkout, reliable stock and dependable fulfilment.
  • Direct-to-consumer brands with accurate product information and usable, authorised imagery.
  • Specialist stores needing clearer product priorities and more accountable advertising.
  • Existing advertisers experiencing feed errors, unclear purchase values or inefficient product coverage.

Before launch, you need authorised access, suitable product data, clear shipping and returns information, and capacity to process orders. Broken checkout, misleading claims, unsupported products or unreliable fulfilment should be addressed first. A pre-launch assessment is different from ongoing advertising for an operational store.

Route

What it means

Standard Shopping

A Google campaign route using Merchant Center product data, with campaign and product-group controls suited to its available settings.

Performance Max with a product feed

A broader Google campaign type that can serve across multiple channels. It is not Shopping-only or search-only and can require additional assets and controls.

Free listings

An unpaid product-listing opportunity, subject to eligibility. This is distinct from purchasing advertising.

Microsoft Shopping

A separate advertising system requiring its own account, catalogue and market checks. Include it only after feasibility and scope are confirmed.

E-commerce SEO

Work on organic store discovery, separately commissioned from advertising management.

We choose a manageable starting route around your products, evidence and budget. For broader account management, see our PPC management services. For organic discovery, explore e-commerce SEO services.

What an engagement can cover

Store, account and product readiness

Review business goals, ownership, permissions, billing and existing activity. Identify priority categories and products using available stock, pricing, margin and returns information. We do not assume access to product profitability or recommend increasing spend solely because reported revenue rises.

Merchant Center and product-data review

Assess the agreed data source, identifiers, titles, images, variants, availability and prices. Check consistency with destination pages and applicable shipping, returns and account requirements. Product identifiers must reflect genuine data; missing identifiers are not repaired by inventing them.

The quotation separates catalogue-level diagnostics from manual item reviews and implemented changes. A rule affecting many items is different from rewriting each product. Connecting a source does not resolve every data or policy issue. Disapproval assessment and correction attempts cannot guarantee reinstatement or approval.

Campaign structure and budgets

Agree product groups, exclusions, market settings, bidding approach and budget controls. Consider product availability and business economics before expanding coverage. Avoid dividing limited spend across too many countries, systems or product groups.

Performance Max assets, additional campaigns and remarketing require explicit scope. Automated systems still need review. Budget settings and platform spending rules must be understood; an average daily budget is not necessarily a hard daily spending ceiling.

Purchase measurement

Define meaningful purchase actions, order identifiers, values and currencies. Review duplicate handling and compare agreed test events with store records where authorised. Consent dependencies and technical changes must be resolved before relying on measurement.

A firing purchase event does not prove a paid or retained order. Tracking installation, validation, refund handling and custom integrations are different tasks. Server-side collection does not bypass consent or restore complete attribution.

Monitoring and practical improvements

Review agreed diagnostics, product coverage, spend and available performance evidence. Document changes and test a specific question when volume permits. Monitoring days and optimisation reviews are agreed separately; neither implies continuous support or daily changes.

For example, a retailer might exclude unavailable products, investigate price mismatches or review returns before increasing a category budget. These illustrate decisions, not Ranknix client results.

Clear scope, responsibilities and deliverables

Your proposal defines brands, stores, domains, accounts, markets, languages, product items and variants. It also sets data-source and destination limits, manual reviews, feed rules, campaigns, assets, revisions, conversion actions and technical hours.

  • Ranknix: completes the signed assessment or implementation scope and documents findings, tests and remaining dependencies.
  • You: retain account ownership, authorise access, approve claims and provide accurate product, stock, shipping, returns and commercial information.
  • Developers or specialists: handle separately agreed store engineering, custom feeds, consent changes or complex analytics work.
  • Platforms: control account review, product approval, feature eligibility and ad serving.

Deliverables can include a readiness register, priority-product map, feed findings, campaign plan, approved assets, configuration records, validation evidence, change log and next priorities. Filming, photography, full catalogue rewriting, website development and specialist policy cases are not automatically included.

How the work starts

  1. Review your store, existing agreements and available evidence.
  2. Confirm eligibility, blockers and the most useful starting scope.
  3. Agree fees, quantities, responsibilities and approvals.
  4. Complete authorised configuration and agreed validation.
  5. Launch when ready, then review evidence and document the next decision.

For ongoing work, an initial evaluation period can establish a baseline and assess suitable tests. It cannot guarantee enough data, completed platform learning or financial results. If operational repairs are the priority, our e-commerce marketing service-selection guide explains the broader choices.

Shopping Ads management pricing

Request a scoped quotation based on your catalogue, markets, data quality, campaign structure and technical needs. Assessment, new setup and monthly management are distinct engagements.

Agency fees are separate from advertising spend. We prefer client-owned accounts with media billed directly by the advertising platform. Feed tools, store subscriptions, premium apps, hosting, licences, translation, production and custom development are separate where required.

We check existing PPC and e-commerce agreements before charging for reusable tracking, feeds or onboarding. Media planning follows the agreed product scope, geography, available evidence and commercial constraints; it does not rely on a promised cost per sale.

Reporting sales without confusing them with profit

Reporting separates completed delivery, advertising activity, customer actions and confirmed commercial outcomes. Clicks are different from loaded visits; carts are different from purchases. An order can later be cancelled, refunded or unfulfilled.

Agree how taxes, shipping, discounts, currencies and refunds enter revenue reporting. Platform-attributed revenue and ROAS are not accounting profit. Acquisition cost should state which fees and costs are included. Different platforms may claim the same order, so their totals must not be presented as unique sales.

Attribution windows, consent gaps, stock, seasonality and promotions affect interpretation. Reported attribution does not establish incremental sales. Reliable business records and an appropriate test design are needed for stronger conclusions.

Shopping Ads FAQs

Can you guarantee Merchant Center approval?

No. We can assess the agreed issues, recommend or implement authorised corrections and document eligible follow-up. Platforms decide approval and enforcement.

Is every product individually optimised?

Only where expressly included. Catalogue diagnostics, shared rules and manual product edits have different quantities and effort. Variants count as separate items when they have separate item IDs.

Should I use Standard Shopping or Performance Max?

The choice depends on objectives, catalogue, controls, assets and available evidence. Neither is automatically appropriate for every store, and using both is not mandatory.

Can you report profit?

Only to the extent agreed and supported by reliable cost and order data. Product labels or reported revenue alone do not establish contribution margin or profit.

How soon will sales start?

No fixed sales timeline is promised. Access, data quality, approval, demand, pricing and the purchase experience all affect readiness and results.

Are ratings and promotions included?

These require separate eligibility and implementation checks. Connecting a ratings source does not guarantee stars, and promotion approval is outside agency control.
